Understand your connection
Simple tools that tell you something true. They run in your browser and only measure what a browser is able to measure. They never scan your network, look at your devices or change any setting.
Connection check
Measures the path between this device and our server at 127.0.0.1:8080: how long a round trip takes, how much it varies, whether requests get lost, and how fast data comes down and goes up.
How it is measured, and what it cannot tell you
- Round trip: 20 small requests to our server; we show the median and the spread (jitter).
- Lost requests: requests that failed or took longer than 3 seconds.
- Download and upload: a file of up to 10 MB is sent each way; the result is the average over the transfer. It uses mobile data if you are on mobile data.
- The result covers your Wi-Fi or mobile signal, your internet provider and the way to our server together. It cannot say which of them is slow; the guide below helps you narrow it down.
- Nothing about your device or network is stored. We count only that a check ran.
Is it my Wi-Fi or my internet provider?
Answer a few questions. Each step explains what it tests and why, so you learn how to find the cause yourself next time.
Is this message a scam?
Paste a text message about money, a prize or a "reversed" payment. The checker looks for the tricks scammers use, in your browser; the message is not sent to anyone.
